fall 2011 colors

one of my favorite parts about shopping this time of year
is seeing all of the new designs and pieces for fall...especially the color palette.

is anyone else totally excited about these?

this is pantone's top ten. and i love it.

the best cookies you'll ever eat

that's right. i'm about to share a recipe for the best cookies you will ever eat. prepare yourself.

i was fortunate [aka spoiled] enough to grow up in one of those houses where there's always some sort of cookie or brownie coming out of the oven and a homemade dinner on the table every night. thanks to my mom, i've got a lot of great recipes and yummy treats that i make these days.

ok, are you ready to know about the best cookies?

my mom calls them chocolate chip pudding cookies,
but we grew up calling them chocolate chocolate chip cookies.
my theory is double the chocolate, double the goodness.

chocolate chocolate chip cookies
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup [2 sticks] margarine
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
 6 oz. chocolate chips
4 oz. instant chocolate pudding
1 tsp vanilla
2 eggs

1. preheat oven to 375 degrees
2. mix flour and baking soda. set aside.
3. in mixer, combine margarine [softened], sugar, brown sugar, pudding mix, and vanilla. beat until smooth.
4. add eggs. beat until smooth.
5. gradually add flour mixture. beat until smooth.
6. stir in chocolate chips.
7. drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
8. bake for 8-10 minutes.
9. devour these tiny pieces of heaven.

*makes about 4 dozen

ingredients [except no salt...don't know how that ended up in there!]

measure out 2 1/4 cups flour and put in separate bowl

add 1 tsp baking soda to flour

mix flour and baking soda and set aside

to mixing bowl, add softened margarine

add 1/4 cup sugar

add 3/4 cup brown sugar

add 4 oz package of instant chocolate pudding

add 1 tsp vanilla

mix that all together until it looks like...

then add two eggs, mix and it should look like this!
add about 6 oz of chocolate chips [or as many or little as you'd like!]

mix chips into dough

scoop onto ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes

they come out of the oven looking like this. perfection.
let them cool and then eat them all. i mean, eat a few and save some for later. either one.

so, i'm basically obsessed with pinterest. i spend far too much time on it and it subsequently makes me want to empty out my bank account. if you aren't on pinterest yet, you should be. seriously, it's the berries [term meaning "best"; my brother-in-law introduced me to it and it is now a permanent part of my vocabulary].

hair envy

lately i've been having hair envy somethin' fierce (uh oh...i think i've been living in the south too long). my hair is finally at a medium length, which opens up a whole new world of possibilities. i've been curling it with a curling iron a lot lately, going for the soft/messy curl look but i'm trying to do some new things with it too, otherwise i will get bored with it and want to chop it all off. also, i'm in desperate need of color, which basically means i want to walk around with a hat all day because my roots are not cute. thankfully, my beautiful and talented sister is doing my hair this friday [and we get to hang out because i don't have to work, yippppeee!]

here's what i'm thinking...
this is the ultimate goal length --- i want a long and luscious
ponytail to twirl my fingers in...or just to have

love her color and the softness of the waves.
also diggin' her bangs. i'm trying to grow mine out

and, of course, the obligatory jen aniston photo. i don't know of any girl who hasn't wanted her hair at one time or another
love the color and softness. messy but put together.

i can't wait to get my hair done on friday!

ushering in fall

so it's finally officially fall...although, someone may want to tell north carolina because it seems to think it's still summer with our 80 degree days. fall weather or not, i'm busting out some of the fall clothes. i've been waiting all year for this. here's a look at one of my "it's not quite fall but i'm going to dress in fall colors" outfits:

jeans: Target - Mossimo premium denim line
top: Ann Taylor
tank top: Old Navy
belt: Target

watch: Fossil
bracelet & bangles: Forever 21

clutch: Fossil
shoes: Ralph Lauren wedges that i've had for yeaaaaaaars.

special thanks to my sister for being the photographer.

all about me

i don't know about you guys but whenever i read someone's blog, i always want to know who they are, where they live, what they do, etc. i like to feel like i actually know something about the person's life i'm reading about...makes me feel slightly less creepy :)

since i have some new followers, thanks to my sister! i thought i'd share a little about me!

first, this is what i look like! i always like to see a picture of the person's blog i'm reading. makes me feel like we're friends.

i've lived in raleigh since january, when i moved from chicago, where i grew up. i moved because i transferred to State, wanted something new, and wanted to be near my sister. after living 1,000 miles away from each other for four-ish years, it's nice to be two blocks away :)

i'm in the college of textiles at state, studying fashion & textile management. not sure what i want to do with it yet but probably something in merchandising or brand management. i think being a buyer would be pretty cool too.

my sister and i have a jewelry business, Elisabeth Ashlie Jewelry, which is what i spend most of my spare time on. i love to be creative and make jewels for other people to enjoy!

i'm a christian. well, really, i'm not a huge fan of saying that [that term has lost it's meaning over the years] so i like to say that i'm a follower of jesus...at least, i try to be. i'm a broken person who has been redeemed by christ's love and god's grace. i've done nothing to deserve it and continually fail at it, but god loves me and pursues me anyways. i've tried doing life without Him and it just isn't worth it to me.

i'm a cat person. there, i said it. i grew up with cats & dogs but so prefer having cats as pets. cats rule, dogs drool.

i have a slight addiction to burt's bees chapstick. i always have a stick of it within 5 feet of me...at all times. i also have a slight addiction to buying purses. some people buy jewelry, some buy shoes, i buy purses.

i love to travel, especially to new cities. i'm definitely a city girl over a beach girl. the beach is beautiful but i get bored in about 12 nanoseconds. i'd much rather be exploring and conquering a new city. i went to boston for the first time a few years ago with my sister and loved it. i have seattle, san francisco, and d.c. on the top of my list of cities to visit.

my favorite season is fall and it's finally here! yippee!

that's all the important stuff i can come up with right now. if you want to know anymore about me, just ask!

my guys

this is what i get to hang out with every day. jealous?

milo. check out those whiskers, by the way. all the ladies drool over them.

showing me how he can bend his arm at a right angle. i was impressed.

otis' model shot. [please disregard all the tiny nose marks on the window. i clean, i swear.
they just spend a lot of time spying on the neighbors. i mean, looking at birds.]

happy saturday! headed to the mall with my sister today...yippeeee!

it's finally friday

i've been waiting all week for this day. why? because i'm going over to my sister's house tonight after work to watch bridesmaids with her and my brother-in-law's sister. i cannot wait. bridesmaids is easily one of the funnies movies i've ever seen.

if you haven't seen it, you MUST

can't wait to laugh my little booty off with some of my favorite gals tonight.
