high five for friday

without fail, every single time i write the title of this post i start to sing that awful rebecca black song.

"it's friday, friday, gotta get down on friday"

maybe i should rename it high five for the weekend? anything but friday.

anyways, it is friday. which means i'm going to look back at five of my favorite things from this week. won't you do the same?

1. i'm loving my new maxi skirt from target. so comfortable. oh, and my new necklace from francesca's.

2. i just discovered this stuff and it is GOOD.

3. my sister and i went to the mall while my mom was here. this is what we like to spend our time doing there.

4. this foot warming train totally made my night. poor otis didn't get to warm his feet on anyone though. he's a trooper.

5. i got this fabulous skirt at the j.crew outlet this weekend and have wanted to wear it everyday since. normal, right?
you can find it here.

my tattoos: part 3

we've made it, folks. i'm sharing my final tattoo with you today!

i got this one on my 20th birthday. it was one that i knew i wanted for about three months, so i went ahead and did it. as you know, my tattoos represent something to do with my faith, and this last one is no exception.

i got the phrase "walk in love" on my foot, to represent Jesus' life on earth and also to remind me how i'm supposed to live. the phrase comes from 2 john: 6, which says "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."

as soon as i stumbled upon that verse, i knew that i wanted it to be the tattoo that represented Jesus in the Trinity. as you may remember, "agape" represents God and the dove of peace represents the Holy Spirit.

Jesus lived a life that was characterized by love. as a christian, i am supposed to do the same. so, i got this tattoo to remind me that no matter where i go, who i encounter, or what i do, i should do it all with love and in love.

i got it on my foot because Jesus walked on the earth, just as i am doing now. also, it kinda makes sense to have it there, since the phrase is about walking and all!

miss the first two tattoos?

recipe: cajun veggie pasta

i like to call myself a chicketarian. pretty much the only meat i eat is chicken, and turkey on occasion. so, naturally, i love this recipe.

the original recipe for this meal has chicken in it but i chose to add more veggies and skip the chicken this time.

4 ounces linguine pasta
1 red bell pepper
1 cup asparagus
1 cup broccoli

2 tbsp butter
2 tsp cajun seasoning
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 tsp lemon pepper
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic (fresh or powder)
1/4 cup grated parm

1. cook pasta according to box (about 8-10 minutes of boil time)
2. in medium pot, sauté fresh, chopped veggies in butter and garlic
3. add cream, lemon pepper, salt, and cajun seasoning. heat through.
4. add cooked linguine, toss and heat through.
5. sprinkle with grated parm.
6. devour.

what's great about this recipe is it can totally be adapted to whatever you want! add more/less veggies, chicken, etc. also, seasonings can be increased/decreased to taste.

oh, and this stuff re-heats like a champ.
