Recipe \ Chex Mix with a Kick

happy saturday!
i wanted to share this delicious chex mix recipe with you guys from my friend Lindsay, of Cooking in Pearls. if you have a man (or you yourself!) that’s going to be enjoying game day on Sunday, you should definitely make this mix. it’s super easy and the perfect complement to a football game.
full disclosure: Mike and i totally spent last weekend watching football (well, he was watching football, i was scrolling through Pinterest) and eating about half a batch of chex mix, so…i know a thing or two about enjoying this little treat.
here’s what you’ll need:
9 cups Chex cereal (you can use corn, rice, wheat, or a combo!)
2 cups pretzels (any shape/size that you like)
1 cup Cheerio’s
1 cup peanuts (i like the cocktail kind, but had dry roasted on-hand)
2 sticks butter, melted
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 Tbsp seasoned salt
 1 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
here’s how you make it:
preheat the oven to 325 degrees
in a very large bowl, combine the cereals, pretzels and peanuts
in a small bowl, combine the melted butter, worcestershire sauce, and seasonings – mix until combined well
pour the butter mixture over the cereal and toss everything together, until the butter evenly coats the dry ingredients
in a single layer, pour the cereal onto a baking sheet (use two if it’s over-crowded)
bake for about an hour, stirring every 20 minutes
remove from the over and let cool (trust me, patience is a virtue!)
this mix is buttery and salty and so addictive!

if you mix up the sauce in a liquid measuring cup, you can easily pour it over the dry mix!

my mouth is watering just looking at these photos again. it’s so yummy! we hope you try it out and enjoy it just as much as we do!

This looks amazing!! And super addictive. I normally go for sweet snacks, like Muddy Buddies {or puppy chow, same thing} but this makes me want to try a salty spicy alternative this weekend! Thanks for sharing!

I've been making this for 20 years, in the oven. I make 4 recipes at once, in my turkey roaster! It's a family favorite, and a tradition that's as old as I am!
