Saturday Style | 38

if you read my post on monday, you know that i love a good lazy weekend. if i am going out to do something, though, i enjoy putting together a weekend casual look. for whatever reason, i get a little more adventurous with my outfits on the weekends. weekdays are spent in my home office, usually alone, so i don’t put much of any thought into accessorizing or having to pick out which pair of shoes goes best. (let’s be honest, it’s usually my slippers).  but when Saturday rolls around, you’ll find me reaching for my favorite dress or skirt, trying my newest pair of shoes, or going a little bolder with my jewelry.
in fact, i wore a new dress this past weekend and quickly realized that i need a little kiss from the sun before i start walkin’ around showing my legs. you can pretty much see right through them. Mike and I have a wedding to attend next weekend, so i’m thinking about biting the bullet on my first ever spray tan. my skin needs a little glow, but not the kind that allows me to glow in the dark because i’m so fair. i’ll keep you updated!

I wish I could wear skirts like that. They just look funny on me!

I'm also super pale and I have had a dozen or so spray tans over the years and have never been super happy, I always come out too dark even when I tell them I just want to knock the glare off, not be miss Hawaiian tropic. Anyway, I went to an event 2 weeks ago and was in your same situation and I tried the loreal tanning wipes (got them at target) and they worked great.I got a lot of compliments and folks asking if we had been on vacation. (It's still snowing here I'm wyoming.) Anyway, after testing them I sorted out that when I use then again I will do 2-3 days of exfoliation then use them the day before an event and then the morning of do a touch up to even any thing out. Lasted about a week and didn't fade all splotchy and weird.Good luck!

So good to know – thank you for sharing! I love that you described it as "knocking the glare off". That's exactly what I'm going for 😉

I just read someone's comment about the Loreal wipes and I have to agree! The "Tan Towel" is also a good option 🙂

I've heard about the Tan Towel, but not about the Loreal wipes – thank you!

I just saw someone comment about the Tan Towels and I have to agree – they are phenomenal! As one fair skinned girl to another I highly recommend them! I started using them for the same reason – to add a touch of warmth to my skin before baring my legs at a wedding – and I have never looked back. Not orange, not heavy, and not hard to apply or long to see results. I hope you try them!

I don't think I could do a "saturday style" post. It'd just be me in yoga pants chasing kids! lol. You make comfortable fashion look great! Have you every done stitch fix? I"m toying with the idea.

Haha thank you! Yes, I tried it a couple times a few years ago. It's a great option if you don't enjoy shopping or don't have time to leisurely shop (or just want someone else's input in your style!). I've found that I enjoy the hunt for a good piece of clothing, so a delivery box isn't quite the best option for me. But, I know a lot of people love it!

If you're going to get a spray tan, an airbrush tan is the way to go. The automatic booth spray tans never look natural on my pale white skin. Spray of Sunshine on Clybourn is where I go when I need to look less pale, and the girls there are always nice. You can choose the level of tan that you want, and it's customized to your body.
