What’s In My Bag

there are three categories of purse-toting people in the world: those who use one as a miniature survival bag, those who use one purely for the necessities, and those who don’t use one at all. i fall somewhere between the survival bag and necessities, so i guess that means there’s more than three categories…

i’m a necessities + bare minimum extras kind of girl. i would consider floss a necessity, while a travel-sized lint roller is an added bonus. three things you will always, always, always find on my person when not inside my home are: my phone, a lip product, and my credit card. those are essential, as far as i’m concerned. beyond that, i carry around things that i will likely use and definitely want to have, if the right situation presents itself.
Sudio Sweden wireless headphones c/o
i almost always have a pair of headphones with me. living in the city can require a lot of commute time, whether i’m riding the bus, walking the streets, or sitting on the train. i like the option to listen to a podcast or a Spotify playlist when doing those things, so i like to have my headphones handy. i just started using these Sudio Sweden wireless headphones. i love how lightweight they are and the sound quality, plus you can’t beat the convenience of wireless! you simply plug them into your USB to charge when necessary, although i’ve found the battery life to be quite long. they’ve come in most handy at the gym when i don’t want the cord from my plug-in headphones getting my way while i’m working out. Sudio Sweden is offering an exclusive deal to you guys just for reading today’s post! enjoy 15% off your order with code LAUREN15.
Madewell card case, Kate Spade wallet (similar)
i like to use a smaller wallet when i’m using a small bag (for obvious reasons), but that usually means i need an extra card holder for my rewards cards, gift cards and other things.
travel-sized lint roller, Soap & Glory Hand Food hand cream
the non-essential-but-still-really-convenient-to-have category takes up the most space, which is ironic. being the caretaker of two very hairy cats, a small lint roller is pretty much an essential. also, being a lover of black clothing. i should probably just stock up on those next time i go to the store since i use it so much! especially in the winter, i like having some hand cream handy (get the joke?) to minimize the dryness. i’ve learned to have a clip and/or hair tie in my bag, too, just in case of bad hair days.
Burt’s Bees , Nest Citrine Rollerball, Dior Addict Lip Glow, Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask
this is a wildly pared down selection of lip products than my history would show, so i’m rather proud of this small collection. it’s the essentials – a clear balm, a lightly tinted balm, and a more saturated lip color. you never know what you may need, so why not have the basics on-hand. i like carrying around a rollerball of fragrance, too, to help refresh mid-day!
what kind of a purse-filler are you? do you stick to just the essentials, or do you have receipts from 2008 and the empty snack bag from last Tuesday in there?
thanks to Sudio Sweden for providing me with a pair of headphones!

Thanks for sharing the headphones – I've been looking for a pair that's wireless but still cute and these are perfect!!

I second the sharing on the headphones – my mom has been looking for some, so I just ordered her a pair for Mother's Day. Thank you!!

I'm like you, essentials and a few extras! One of my essentials that you didn't mention is hand sanitizer! I also always carry my full-size wallet. I also always carry tissues – I have a re-usable travel sized pouch that I just refill from my box at home. And my weirdest (maybe?) extra is a miniature tape measure! I'm always on the lookout for little extras for the home on clearance, at garage sales, and at flea markets – it's nice to know if they'll fit!

Those are good ones! I usually have tissues in the winter, although you can always find a use for them. I love that you have a tape measure – I bet that comes in handy!

I've been itching to try those new Burt's Bees lipsticks. Which shade is your favorite?

I really like the Tulip Tide shade, although they're all beautiful!

I'm a mom so, my bag is large. My youngest is still I diapers so I always have a spare diaper and wipes. My bag ends up as a catch all for everyone's junk. It's funny though, when I go somewhere alone I have my phone, j. crew magic wallet, keys, and a lip product. So I guess I fall between essentials and the bare minimum as well.

That card case is gorgeous! 🙂 x

    I fall
Under the "my purse feels like a weekend bag" category. I travel a lot for my job during the day so there is everything from perfume to a snack bag in there… Plus all the receipts in the world! Must haves: lip color/moisturizer, hand cream, perfume, gum, planner! 🙂

Haha I love that – at least you always have things you might need!

You have added almost everything what a lady should need in her bag. The most essential thing in my bag which I never skip to take is organic body wipes. Such a nice post!
