Coffee Conversations

Helloooooo! Friday is here!

It's my last official day of work until September 1st, I can't believe it! I remember talking about this day back in March and here we are. It's been a rather insanely busy week, so I'm very much looking forward to shutting the computer down at 5pm today. Once I've finished my obligations, it's time to pack up my office for our move! All of these things that Mike and I have been talking about for months are starting to happen and it's wild. Time flies!

My bachelorette trip last weekend was so. much. fun. My matron and maid of honor did an amazing job planning a trip for the seven of us. If you missed it, we spent the weekend in NYC! Also, if you're  ever tasked with planning a bachelorette outing, I highly recommend private karaoke. It was so fun to travel with that group of girls, as it will likely never happen again!

I shared on my instagram story yesterday that I received a mailing from Charlotte Tilbury (!!!) which included this amazing palette. I only used it once but I'm already recommending it to people. So perfect for travel, too. I also tried the overnight mask and woke up with a nice little glow!

Definitely packing this adorable romper for our honeymoon.

I'm re-watching Pretty Little Liars and too happy about it. I think I stopped somewhere around season 3 or 4 last time. The drama, you guys. It's one of a kind.

Mike and I head up to the lake for the 4th of July weekend on Sunday! My sister and her family will get into town that day, and my brother will be there, also. So looking forward to a little bit of downtime before the real madness begins.

Have a great weekend!

5 Ways To Prepare for Monday

I don't often suffer from the Sunday Scaries. I'm usually ready for a purpose and to tackle a to-do list come Monday morning. Plus, I just really love my job, so I don't feel much dread when I think about it. That being said, I still like to take advantage of my Sunday and prepare for the workweek ahead. Whether you don't really love your job or you usually get burnt out by Thursday, here are five things you can do on Sunday to help prep you for the workweek ahead:

FIND AN ACTIVITIY THAT RELAXES YOU AND DO IT

Yoga, running, binge-watching a TV show, or soaking in a tub. Whatever the activity, set aside time on your Sunday to do it. Being relaxed (which can usually lead to feeling happy) going into a Monday morning will do wonders for your workweek.

MEAL PREP

Admittedly, I'm still really bad at this. But when I do take the time to think through lunches and dinners for the week, I'm always happy that I did. Working from home, I eat nearly every meal here. Occasionally, I'll plan to order delivery for one dinner during the week, but almost always have breakfast and lunch at home. I really don't like waking up Monday morning knowing that the first thing I have to do is go to the grocery store because I don't have any food left, so I try my best to plan ahead. This takes off a lot of stress come Monday evening, when I'm hungry for dinner. That's one less thing you need to think about on your first day back after the weekend!

Some of my favorite recipes right now: Easy Weeknight Chicken Tacos, Chicken Gyros, and Chicken Taco Salad

GIVE YOUR SKIN SOME TLC

One of my favorite things to do on Sunday evening is my Sunday Skincare routine. I love taking some time to prep my skin (and hair!) for the week ahead. This is my favorite face mask right now. I typically go makeup-free a few days a week, but usually wear makeup on the weekend, so my skin is in need of a little extra love by Sunday evening.

THINK THROUGH YOUR OUTFITS FOR THE WEEK

If you're reaaaaally type A like me, this won't even be a surprising suggestion. When I was in middle school, I used to lay out my entire outfit on the floor the night before. Like, in the shape of a human. It was dorky and funny, but was also the only way that I would leave on time in the morning. Even to this day, I could change my outfit 5 times before actually getting out of the house. Which is ridiculous because I usually end up wearing about 7% of the items in my closet anyway. If you're like me, take a little time on Sunday evening to think through what your week is going to look like, so that you can cut down on your time getting ready each morning.

SET GOALS AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK

My week is always more productive when I have a to-do list nearby. I'm a list-maker, through and through. I'll write things on my list that are already complete just so I can cross them off. I like to sit down with my planner (I love this style) and a notepad on Sunday afternoon and get a good idea for what my week will look like. I write in which days I want to go to the gym, important deadlines, appointments, and anything else I need to do that week.

Working from home can be a bit isolating, so I like to plan a dinner or activity with a girlfriend as often as possible. It forces me to get out of the house and it's always nice to have something fun to look forward to midweek!

Try these this weekend!

Saturday Style

Because what's better on a weekend than a cozy outfit that can be worn to brunch or the farmer's market? I love the feminine detail on that sweatshirt and the perfect amount of distressing on those denim shorts.

This is my dream weekend outfit!

Blush Boho

Shortly after we got engaged, I started casually shopping for all the events that were to come - showers, rehearsal, honeymoon, etc. I had the foresight to know that if I waited until I really needed to find something, it would be nowhere in stores. Isn't that annoying?

I wasn't finding many white dresses that I liked, at the time, so when I stumbled upon this beauty I  couldn't resist. (Unfortunately, that was back in January or February, so the dress is no longer available.) At the time, I didn't know how many showers I was going to have, but it worked out perfectly for me to wear this number to Mike's family shower. It was fun to do the classic white lace at my side's shower and then something a little more relaxed at his.

And! I think those earrings are the ones I'm going to wear on our Wedding Day! Ironically, I don't wear a lot of earrings in my regular life. Or jewelry, in general. I'll wear my personalized disc and bar necklace every day, and occasionally add a watch, but that's typically all I have on. So, I wasn't sure about doing statement earrings for the wedding, but they just look so perfect with my gown, so that's the plan.

Summer weekends are the best thing since sliced bread, am I right? Actually, I would amend that saying to be "...the best thing since cinnamon rolls", but that's a different conversations.

(Yeah, I totally had a dream about cinnamon rolls last night)

Living in the city in the warm months reminds me why I spent all those freezing cold winters here. There's just something in the air - everyone is buzzing from the Vitamin D or something. Mike and I spend a lot more time walking, too. When we would typically take the el or drive to a particular restaurant or activity when it's cool, we will take the extra 20 minutes to enjoy the weather and walk instead. There really is something to say for getting all that fresh air on the weekend - it makes the indoor work week feel a little less constricting.

Plus, I just love the color palette of warm weather clothes. I love light, airy, soft tones. Blushes, whites, nudes, give them all to me! Even better, mixing them together and creating a pretty and functional look for an evening out.

Happy Friday!
I'm sitting in in this exact spot, sipping my morning coffee and listening to the rain fall outside. It's as delightful as you can imagine. I have my second dress fitting this morning, so I'm heading out to the suburbs in just a couple of hours. I'm excited to see my gown again!

Speaking of wedding things, we hit the one month mark yesterday! It truly has gone by so quickly and I know that the next four weeks are going to just fly

How stinking cute is this Pom Pom Clutch? We leave for my mystery bachelorette trip in a week and this beauty is definitely making the cut!

We're doing $8 mugs all weekend long at Elisabeth Ashlie! You can shop them here

I just rediscovered the greatness that is Aerie sleepwear and loungewear. If you're a bralette girl, this one and this one are must-haves. These are so cozy, too.

I'm hoping to make some serious progress with packing up all non-essentials this weekend. My goal has been to do as much packing for our move before our wedding, which means basically before July 1st. We'll see how it goes!

Have a great weekend!

Summer Neutrals

I'm a neutrals girl, through and through. We all know this. So, it makes sense that my favorite outfit would be made up completely of neutrals. Summer, to me, is the season of COLOR. I feel like everyone is happy to be outside again, so they like to wear their feelings with bright hues, bold patterns, and fun details. Meanwhile, I'm over here like, "wait...is that blush pink? Oh, I can't. Too bright."

Okay, that was a bit of an exaggeration, but you get it

These wrap cardigans have been the most-worn items in my closet in the last couple months, by far. I'm actually a little bummed by the 90º weather we've been having because it means I can't wear one outside.

Alas, before I know it, it will be 50º again and all will feel right (and not sweaty) in my world again.

H A P P Y  Friday!

It's been a busy week over here, but that seems to be the standard these days. My second bridal shower is on Sunday, so I'm looking forward to that!

I finally picked out a wedding day fragrance. Have you guys heard of this? The idea to buy a new perfume to wear on your wedding day and then anytime you wear it after, it will remind you of the day? I'm not a huge perfume wearer, however I have this one sample that I wear occasionally and Mike always comments on it. I was going to look for a new scent, but since I know that he really likes this one and I don't wear it often anyway, I ordered a bottle!

I've come to learn that I really enjoy having fresh flowers around. Whenever I see that they're dying (like in the photo), I get a twinge of sadness and make my plan to run out and get more. Plus, peony season is just the best. My parents have a beautiful peony bush in their backyard, so I brought some back with me last weekend.

If you're an Anthro member, you get 20% off today! Might I suggest these perfect denim shorts or this peplum tank. I picked up both of these recently and love them for summer.

I would love to create something like this in our new home.

Have a great weekend!

Dresses For the Bride-to-Be

One of the things I was really excited to shop for was a dress for my bridal shower. I knew that I wanted to go the more traditional route of white lace, but also loved the idea of going a little outside the box. Lucky for me, I have two showers that I needed dresses for! The first one was the classic white lace (seen above). For the second shower, I'll be wearing a blush pink dress with some lace detailing that I picked up at Anthropologie months ago. That dress is a bit more casual, but I can easily dress it up with my accessories.

There are so many great options right now, whether you're looking for fancy or laid back, white or a less traditional color, intricate detailing or simple and classic. As long as you feel good in it, nothing else really matters!

These dresses would also work great for a rehearsal dinner or engagement party!

A Peek Inside My Bridal Shower

It's hard to believe that my first bridal shower has already come and gone. With every year that I get older, time seems to go by just a little bit faster. With wedding planning, one month goes by in about the time of one day. It's wild! There has been so much to do and so much to look forward to, time has escaped me. I can't believe we're already at the point of my bridal shower!

My mom and sister did such a great job of throwing a party that was very "me". I had given them some input, way back in January or February when we first started talking about the shower. I shared some photos of decor from Pinterest, just to give them an idea of the vibe that I like for that sort of thing. At this time, I also put in my formal request for a donut wall. My mom was instantly on top of it and made the cutest one! It was definitely a hit! So much so, that we're going to re-use it the weekend of the wedding, since there will be so many different events going on and people coming in to town.

In true fashion, I didn't take many photos. Honestly, the shower was scheduled for two hours and felt more like 30 minutes. We mingled, drank mimosas, ate some brunch, and then before I knew it, it was time to open gifts because some people had to leave right at the end.

Here are some photos I was able to grab on the day:

My mom was "Operations Manager" and my sister the "Creative Director" of the day. They used both of their talents to put together the shower of my dreams!

Matron of Honor and Maid of Honor

Some of my oldest friends - since 4th grade!

In my happiest place
I really felt like a bride that day, which was one of the first times in this whole process. The other time was going to my first dress fitting with my wedding dress. Our day is quickly approaching, so I'm trying to soak in these last several weeks of this very special time in our lives!

Good Morning and Happy Friday to you!

I'm waking up in the suburbs this morning since my sister and nephews are in town. I'm looking forward to spending time with them this weekend!

Mike and I bought tickets (kind of on a whim) to see Hillsong United next Friday, so I've been listening to them on Spotify all week long. It's a nice change from the regular radio songs that I hear 3 times a day.

Did you guys see that the perfect bag now comes in the perfect blue-grey color? The only thing that would make it better is if it came in the larger size. I have the Transport Satchel and love it for everyday wear.

This is the best candle to burn in the Summer - smells like you're at the beach!

I've been a pinning machine with all of my home office inspiration

I think I've decided that these are the earrings I'm wearing on our wedding day. It was a hard decision, and I may still change my mind ;)

Hope you have a great weekend!
