I’m taking you inside our dining room today! It was one of the first rooms that was completely finished in our home, mostly because it was pretty cut and dry. I had ordered the dining table and chairs before we even moved because I was able to get them on major sale. I searched and searched for a sideboard/buffet that I loved and found this one shortly after we moved, also marked way down. Then it was just a matter of finding a light fixture we loved and some things for the walls!
I knew I wanted a big statement piece of art above the sideboard. Since our dining room is right next to our living space, I didn’t want to overwhelm the wall with little things or another mirror (there’s one on the same wall in our living room). My mom and I were walking through HomeGoods and I spotted this beauty and, I’m not kidding, it stopped me in my tracks. The colors, the flow, the size…everything was perfect! We quickly scooped it up and walked it right to the register – I didn’t want to risk anybody else laying claim to it! We got it up on the wall later that evening and the room felt complete.
One of the things I really like about this room is that we actually use it. We don’t have a table and chairs in the kitchen for eating, so this is our only place to sit and enjoy a meal at a proper table. I would find it wasteful of space to put together a beautiful dining room for it to only be used for special occasions or holidays, so I’m happy that we get good use out of ours!
