I always prefer to fly with a carry-on bag versus checking a bag with the airline. I’ve had my bag “lost” before and it’s not a pleasant experience, plus I can walk right out of the airport when I land and avoid the chaos that ensues around the luggage carousel. The most difficult part, for me, with packing this way is figuring out which liquids I’ll bring. Since there’s only so many travel-size or small products that I can fit in my clear bag, I need to be pretty selective with what I pack.
My two non-negotiables are my own shampoo + conditioner and my skincare products (i.e. morning and evening serums). The rest of the items depend a little bit on the destination. If I’m going somewhere with a lot of humidity and warm temps, I won’t even bother with hair products, like dry shampoo or volumizing foams, because I know I won’t be styling my hair like usual. Instead, I’ll take up that space with extra sunscreen and lotion. The contents shift a little from trip to trip, but this is most often what you’ll find in my bag:
Worth noting, I seem to always have a different experience going through TSA with a bag of liquids. Sometimes, I can get away with having my liquid foundation in my separate makeup bag, other times they’re very specific about what needs to fit in the “liquids” bag.
