I often get asked questions regarding closet staples: what’s worth investing in? what should I definitely have in my closet? is it worth spending more money on denim? and the like. While everyone spends differently on clothing and accessories, I do think there’s a case to be made for investing more in staples and things that will last you for years to come. Want to try out the leopard print trend this season? Opt for something more budget-friendly, since it will probably not be as trendy next year. Looking for a new pair of denim? Consider shopping around a bit to find your brand and investing in a pair or two of jeans that you know will last you for years to come. Because let’s be honest, shopping for denim can be a time-consuming and frustrating experience. I’m a big believer in spending a bit more up-front for the pieces that are classic and that you’ll keep for many seasons.

Great, now I can gush. I put them on and instantly felt like a #boss, which is fitting, as they’re known as the Boss Boot. They’re made of beautiful pebbled leather, have the pointed toe of my dreams, and just the right amount of heel to make a little noise without leading to discomfort halfway through the day.
So, the closet staples that I think are worth investing in are:
Denim – especially if you wear jeans a lot, you should find the brand that fits you best and offers denim that with withstand many wears and washes
Classics, like a cashmere sweater – cashmere will never go out of style, and if you purchase it in a classic silhouette, you’ll be able to wear it for years to come
A great pair of boots – if you wear this type of shoe in the fall/winter, you can’t go wrong finding that one magical pair that makes you feel great when you put it on! Besides, you need to wear shoes everyday, right? When you calculate the cost per wear with how often you’ll wear them, the investment makes sense!
