How I Achieve a Summer Glow

Being fair-skinned, I’ve had my share of sunburns, especially in the summertime. It wasn’t until about 5 years ago that I became very disciplined in using sunscreen and protecting my skin. Not only do I want to save myself from the discomfort of sunburn, but most importantly, I want to care for and protect my skin from the damage that the sun can cause. Whenever I know I’ll be outside, especially in the summer, I use a high-number SPF and reapply often. Because of that, I don’t get much of a tan. I always feel better with a little color and glow to my skin, especially when I’m wearing shorts, dresses, and tank tops. In the last couple of years, I’ve learned the value of knowing how to achieve a sunless glow without any of the bad stuff from the sun.

My two go-to products for a summer (sunless) glow are a great, natural-looking bronzer and this bronzing mousse. I’ve been using this bronzing mousse for the last two years or so and love it! It’s easy to apply, looks natural, and the bottle lasts me quite awhile. Typically, I’ll use the sunless tanner every week or so to refresh my tan. I always make sure to shave before applying. Once my skin is dry out of the shower, I use this mit to work the mousse into my skin, moving in small circles all over. I apply it on my legs, arms, and upper chest (basically anywhere that will be seen in the clothes I’m wearing). I like to apply it in the morning, keep it on all day, and rinse it off at night. You can also just leave it on for a few hours and then rinse it off! After rinsing, I make sure to generously moisturize my skin. It will last about a week or so before it’s completely faded away.

Since I don’t use the bronzing mousse on my face, I want to be sure to match my glow with a great bronzing powder. This Charlotte Tilbury Bronzing Powder is a near-perfect match for the tone of the bronzing mousse. I use the shade medium and it’s just dark enough to create the effect of sun-kissed skin without looking muddy. It’s easily-buildable, too! I like to apply it to the hollows of my cheeks, along my temples, upper hairline, and blend it down into my neck.

I love Charlotte Tilbury’s bronzing products – they work really well for me. Plus, this one comes with a good amount of product and a large pan, so it’s super easy to use and pick up plenty of powder on a fluffy brush!

Since we’re talking about getting a sunless glow, I thought I’d also share two of my favorite sunscreens for my face. I make sure to always protect my face from the sun, even if I’m not planning on being outside much. The two SPF products that I use on my face are Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen and COOLA Sun Silk Drops. The Unseen Sunscreen is a bit thicker and leaves a bit of a greasy feel, so I like to use it on days when I know I’ll be exposed to the sun a lot and/or I’m not wearing foundation or other face makeup. For the days that I am wearing my usual makeup, I like the lightness of the Sun Silk Drops as my base. Both provide good protection and keep my face from getting any sunburn, which is key!

All of these products are available at Nordstrom, which is one of my favorite places to shop! These days, I’m doing even more online shopping than before, with Nordstrom being one of my favorite retailers to browse the selection of. I love that I can shop for clothes, home items, beauty products, and accessories all in one place. They just announced that the Anniversary Sale will be in August this year and I’m so excited!

Thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
