Sandal season has (mostly) arrived in Raleigh and I couldn’t be happier! Part of that is because I’m running a bit warmer these days with being nine months pregnant, so open-air shoes are where it’s at. It also means digging into a part of my wardrobe that I haven’t seen much of in the last several months and being able to change things up a bit. Like most of you, I don’t have any reason to be leaving the house these days, but it’s nice to slip on sandals for a walk around the neighborhood or to grab the mail.
When it comes to sandal styles, I definitely have a type. For one, you won’t catch me in a pair of thong sandals or any style that has a toe separator. I think I allowed myself one too many blisters between my big and second toes as a kid to come within a ten-foot radius of a sandal like that. Because of that, you’ll mostly find me in double-strap or cross-strap options. I find them to be so much more comfortable and they do better at staying on my feet. I prefer neutral colors, no surprise there, because I know I’ll be able to use them for a few seasons before I tire of them, if ever! I typically go for a flat sandal, but also love a slight wedge for extra support and comfort.
Here’s a look at a few sandals this year that I’m loving:
I have this leopard pair from a year or two ago and they’re still one of my favorites! Super lightweight and a fun way to add a little pop to your outfit. I have a couple colors in these simple slides that have also become a staple in my sandal wardrobe. These snakeskin sandals with the slight wedge are so comfortable and a great neutral! If you’re interested in a “the look for less” option for those snakeskin sandals, this pair and this pair (not snake, but two different straps) are great options!
