Hello, 2021!

Social Squares

New year, fresh start, blank slate.

How are you feeling about the new year? I love the month of January. It feels like a hard reset on things. I always take time to get organized, make some plans for the year, brainstorm ideas for my business, and (try) to set myself up for success for the next 11 months. I’ve never been big into resolutions, but I do like setting some basic goals for myself and my business. It helps me to hone in on a couple things that I’d like to see happen for the year, while also allowing creativity, opportunity, and life to just happen.

Every year, upon packing up all my Christmas decor, I find myself wanting to rework some things in our house. Whether it’s rearranging furniture, mixing up some of the decor, or creating a new purpose for a room, I love it! I’ve been restyling some things the last week or so, as well as making some plans for a couple spaces. Liam’s getting to the point where he could use a playroom, so I’m slowly starting to gather some things for that. It will be in what will hopefully be baby #2’s room, so it’s not a permanent playroom – just something to get us through until the room has a new purpose, and then we’ll relocate the playroom somewhere else. I moved the furniture around in our bedroom – that has been the hardest room for me in this house – and it’s finally feeling and looking how I wanted it to from the start! I’m going through closets and purging, organizing, and making sense of things. Since it’s a common thing to be doing at the start of the year, I’ll be sharing some of those little projects as they happen! If you’re looking to edit your clothing, I’ve shared a few tips for that in this post.

Later this week, I’ll be sharing a little “2020 recap”. It will include the most popular items I shared in 2020, top blog posts, some of my favorite things from the year, and more. It’s always helpful and interesting to me to look back at what you all loved, so I thought I’d open it up and share it with you!

Before I go, I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for your support and readership throughout last year (and previous years!). Some of you have been here since the very beginning and have walked alongside me as my life has unfolded and that is not something I take lightly. It’s your choice to show up and participate in what I share here and on social media and it means a lot to me! So, thank you! I’m looking forward to another year of sharing blog posts, Instagram content, and bits of my personal life with you, as well as connecting with you!

Cheers to the new year!

I took a page from your book and changed up the China cabinet we were handed down from my grandparents! It is 50 years old and not my style, but I can’t justify spending money on things when I have them already, so I did some retooling of its look to make it a little more me and a little less 1960, and I’m happy with the results. Felt safer doing it after watching you do small customizations over my time of reading your blog.

Happy new year! Hi Mike and Liam!

We recently had our 35 year old dining room table and chairs and hutch painted black! I LOVE it! So happy to keep my furniture as it is sentimental, but the update has brought new life. For $500, I have new to me furniture!
