We’ve got a couple of one-night and weekend trips planned for this summer, which is always exciting! One nice thing about summertime travel is that packing is usually pretty light and simple. Especially if we’ve got a short trip, I just pack a few of my most versatile pieces, grab some shoes, a light jacket, and that’s it! Here’s a look at a typical collection of things that I would pack for a weekend away:
Depending on where we’re going and what we’re doing, I like to have a little variety in my options. I’m one of those people that has to have options when it comes to clothes. If I were to pack three distinct outfits that couldn’t be mixed and matched, I know I would find myself at the nearest clothing store trying to find something else. I dress based on my mood and how I’m feeling that day, so having options is key! Plus, it allows for me to change midday for a dinner or different activity, if I feel like I want to do that. I try to be very intentional with what I pack, so that I’m not overpacking and bring unnecessary things, which is why it’s also helpful to me to figure out the outfits that I can put together with the items I’m bringing along.
With this simple capsule of just eight articles of clothing, you can put together at least eight different outfits. If you’re going away for a weekend, that should be plenty! It’s a good mix of casual outfits with more dressed up options for dinners or evenings out.
While some of the outfits are similar, I love that they’re different enough that I won’t feel like I’m just wearing the same three items all weekend long. Packing like this is a great way to get multiple uses out of your favorite items and to allow a little extra room in your suitcase for anything you may purchase while traveling!
