My Capsule Skincare Routine

I’ve shared quite a bit about my skincare routine, favorite products, and the like over the last few years. For many, many years, I had a 2-step skincare routine and my skin showed evidence of it. I always had a breakout, my skin looked dull, and I struggled with finding makeup that looked good on my sad skin. Once I found myself in a good groove with a solid skincare routine, I noticed a significant change in how my skin looked. I felt 100x more confident in baring my face without a stitch of makeup on and knew that I was doing right by myself by taking care of it!

If you don’t have a 10-step skincare routine, that’s okay! You don’t need it. But I do highly recommend getting somewhat of a routine established. If I had to recommend a few products to start with, here’s what I’d put in my capsule skincare routine:

1. Cleanser

I think cleansing your skin is super important to keeping it in good working order. We take in so much stuff on our face throughout the day, from makeup products, to germs, to junk in the air. Cleaning it off in the morning and at night is like washing your hands – it keeps everything balanced and keeps your skin from building up with gunk that will cause skin issues. I like using a cleanser in the morning to prep my skin for products and makeup, as well as removing any products I used the night before (so that I’m not piling on more and more products).

Cleanser I’m Currently Using:

Elemis Pro-Collagen Energising Marine Cleanser

Similar Options:

2. Morning Serum (Vitamin C)

I’ve been using a Vitamin C serum for as long as I can remember! It’s great for brightening your complexion, fighting against fine lines, and provides powerful antioxidants to stimulate collagen production. Collagen helps to keep your skin looking fresh, healthy, and nicely plump!

Serum I’m Currently Using:

Dime Hyper Glow (save 20% with code: BOWN20)

Similar Options:

3. Moisturizer with SPF

Just like I moisturize the rest of my body after every shower, I moisturize my face every morning. Not only does my face feel too dry without it, but hydrated skin looks healthier, brighter, and all around happier! Adding a moisturizer with SPF guarantees that you’ll get sun protection, too, which is one of the most important things you can do for your skin. You can certainly add another SPF on top of your moisturizer or if you use a moisturize that doesn’t have SPF in it!

Moisturizer I’m Currently Using:

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30

Similar Options:

1. Cleanser/Make Up Remover

Similar to why I use one in the morning – to remove the junk from the day!

Cleanser I’m Currently Using:

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil

Similar Options:

2. Moisturizer

I like using a heavier moisturizer at night to really replenish and hydrate my skin while I’m sleeping. It can take a little time to find a thicker moisturizer that doesn’t clog your pores or cause skin issues, but once you find one, definitely incorporate it into your routine!

Moisturizer I’m Currently Using:

Elemis Pro-Collagen Oxygenating Night Cream
